Tear Trough Treatment

Non-surgical treatment to smooth and refresh the eye area

Tear trough rejuvenation is a non-surgical aesthetic treatment for clients with low eyelid dark circles or hollows. This treatment can be done in conjunction with treating the area around the eyes, e.g. the crow’s feet, but coupled with dermal fillers aimed at tear troughs, the impact of both treatments is accentuated.

Tear troughs are caused mainly from loss of soft tissue volume in the cheek area or in the lower eyelid (orbital septum). This then accentuates the dark circles, hollow appearance and lower eyelids. To reverse this complaint, a small amount of dermal filler is injected into precise areas along the hollowed area, gradually rebuilding and volumizing until the desired result is achieved.

At present the following brands are used within clinic

    • Restylane
    • Juverderm
    • Filorga
    • Alliaxin
    • Revolax
  • Effects of the treatment will be immediately noticeable and will continue to improve over the following days, post treatment.
  • It is advised that the client refrains from consuming alcohol or exercising for 24 hours post treatment. Both can cause vasodilation (widening of blood vessels) and can heighten the risk of bruising.
  • To aid longevity, it is advised that extreme temperatures are avoided for 2 weeks post treatment.
  • To avoid risk of infection it is advised that makeup isn’t worn for 12-24 hours post treatment.
  • Depending on the area treatment results will last between 3-12 months, sometimes longer but this does vary from client to client. The treatment effects will gradually wear off.
