Dermal fillers are carefully injected along the cheekbone to contour, plump and define, until the desired result is achieved.

Dermal fillers are an effective way of smoothing and/or adding definition to specific parts of the face including the cheek area. The ageing process typically causes a loss in volume and greater sagging of the skin as tone is lost, which dermal fillers can help to correct. Minor deformities either from birth or through injury, could also see significant improvement by undertaking dermal filler.

At present the following brands are used within clinic

  • Restylane
  • Juverderm
  • Filorga
  • Alliaxin
  • Revolax
  • Effects of the treatment will be immediately noticeable and will continue to improve over the following days, post treatment.
  • It is advised that the client refrains from consuming alcohol or exercising for 24 hours post treatment. Both can cause vasodilation (widening of blood vessels) and can heighten the risk of bruising.
  • To aid longevity, it is advised that extreme temperatures are avoided for 2 weeks post treatment.
  • To avoid risk of infection it is advised that makeup isn’t worn for 12-24 hours post treatment.
  • Depending on the area treatment results will last between 3-12 months, sometimes longer but this does vary from client to client. The treatment effects will gradually wear off.

Side effects

Common
    The following side effects are quite common following this procedure.

  • Mild swelling
  • Occasional bruising, which will subside within few days post treatment
  • Refrain from consuming Aspirin or Ibuprofen prior to treatment
Rare
    An infection or an allergic response is rare but unfortunately, can occur. Rare occasions have been reported (less than 1:15,000)

  • Abscess formation or discoloration and prolonged firmness has occurred at the treatment site
Extremely rare
  • Shedding of tissue, formation of scab at the injected treatment site.

You should not undertake this treatment if:

  • You have a neuromuscular disorder
  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • You are allergic to any of the ingredients
  • If the injection site is infected.
